NEW CLASSROOM & REFURBISHMENT
IRONSTONE ACADEMY TRUST
BACKGROUND
Normanby Primary School, part of the Ironstone Academy Trust, is an Ofsted ‘outstanding’ school and needed to expand to keep up with growing pupil numbers. To facilitate this d3associates worked with the school to develop initial classroom extension and external play area designs; and supported the school in submitting a Condition Improvement Fund bid (CIF).
OUTCOME
Following notification that the CIF bid was successful, d3associates were appointed to undertake the detailed design and submit a full planning application. Technical Designs to RIBA Stage 4 and JCT tender documents were produced, along with structural, and M&E designs, and the scheme tendered using local contractors to ensure quality and value for money.
d3associates acted as Principal Designer, managing the Health & Safety aspects of the scheme, ensuring the school as ‘client’ was compliant with the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations 2015.
d3associates project managed the works on site during the construction phase, attending regular site visits, agreeing valuations with the contractor and preparing payment certificates, ensuring the works were delivered on programme and budget.
