MEET THE TEAM: BRAD MURRAY, SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER

Our industry very nearly lost Brad's talents to the stage - as he considered treading the boards at drama school - but fortunately, the world of mechanical engineering won the day. This decision took Brad halfway round the world and having worked in both the Middle East and North America, he then returned to the UK. Today Brad is a highly experienced Design Engineer with an in-depth knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services.

Once back in the northeast, one of Brad's career highlights was at the Great North Museum (formerly The Hancock) where he was responsible for the mechanical design and project management during its refurbishment. He enjoyed the challenge of sympathetically incorporating new systems and technology into a listed building that was never originally designed to take them.

Nowadays, at d3a, Brad is heavily involved with heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, integrating renewable technologies and energy management systems for our clients who are working towards Net Zero.

When asked what advice he would give to young Mechanical Engineers about to embark on their career, Brad's top tips would be "gain as much varied engineering design experience as possible and ‘if in doubt ask’. It's the most important piece of advice you will get".
