FUNDING FOR EDUCATION PROJECTS

We appreciate that funding is often the key to delivering a project, whether for feasibility studies, detailed design or capital costs. We’re also well aware that funding opportunities are constantly changing so we aim to keep ourselves up to date. Here are some funding routes you might find interesting with links so you can read up on them too.

CONDITION IMPROVEMENT FUND (CIF)

In the last 3 years alone, we have won just under £3.5m of Condition Improvement Funding (CIF) for our academy clients, releasing the funds to progress 21 projects. In 2022 we were the only consultancy to secure funding for schools within Northumberland. With a 72% success rate, this is an indication of how our years of experience enable us to select the projects most likely to win approval and assist with the bidding process accordingly.

To help begin the bid process, d3associates offers a free service. We guide you through the process, identify the projects most likely to receive approval and prepare the bidding submission, all no cost. If the bid fails, there will be no fee, this is earned when the CIF bid is successful and the project progresses.

d3a has secured funding for a wide variety of projects such as:

  • Nursery extensions

  • Structural repairs

  • Roof refurbishments

  • Window replacements

  • Boiler and total heating system replacements

  • Electrical safety works

In the annual bidding round for capital funding, academies, sixth-form colleges and voluntary aided (VA) schools are all eligible to apply. The aim of the fund is to keep buildings safe and in good condition, address health and safety issues and building compliance, all of which helps provide a secure and positive learning environment. CIF also supports a small number of expansion projects for academies, sixth-form colleges and VA schools that can demonstrate a need to expand and have been rated good or outstanding by Ofsted.

PUBLIC SECTOR DECARBONISATION SCHEME

Funding for heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures.

With the target of Net Zero in mind, this scheme provides funds to those MATS and Academies that make a successful application. The grants the Scheme provides help pay for energy efficiency measures and reduction of CO2 emissions from heating and offers up to 100% of the cost of capital projects focused on decarbonising buildings.

There are specific funds to install environmentally friendly, low-carbon heat sources to enable ‘end-of-life’ fossil fuel systems such as gas boilers to be replaced. Additional energy efficiency measures for a ‘whole building’ approach to heat decarbonisation is also supported.

For help with expert assistance to apply for this fund see the Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund below.

PUBLIC SECTOR LOW CARBON SKILLS FUND

The application process for these funds can be rather complex and therefore The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy offers additional funding in the form of the Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund (LCSF). This enables applicants to pay for experts to assist with the application and provide project support when needed.

The d3associates energy team can assist in all these areas to help MATs and Academies achieve their Net Zero targets.
